A Fun Mom & Daughter Connection Question

When I was a middle school teacher I set aside the last hour of every Friday to have a community circle. The whole class would circle up and we would start with a fun get-to-know-you question before moving on to a “bigger topic.”

This was one of my favorite questions to ask…

“If you could give yourself a different name, what would it be?” OR “If you had your own kid, what would you name them?”

Our favorite names often have a story behind them and it can be a fun insight into someone else’s mind. I also love this question because you could ask it in different seasons of life and hear what changes (or what doesn’t)!

In my mom & daughter puberty course, each module ends with a fun non-puberty-related discussion question because I believe even simple questions like this can build trust and understanding - something needed in large amounts during the preteen and teenage years.

If you want more fun discussion prompts and connection activities (like my favorite Hidden Journal!), grab my free “Let’s Connect” guide.
